Alliance between France and Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. French President Emmanuel Macron sent a clear message of commitment to support Greece in case it faces any threats. Speaking at the European Parliament on Tuesday, Macron said among others “We are on the side of any EU member receiving threats. I told so Alexis Tsipras when he raised the issue.” The French President and Greek Prime Minister had a telephone conversation on April 13th, where Tsipras told Macron that Greece would not be involved in operations in Syria.
“I want to stress that France is at any moment on the side of any member country whose sovereignty is being attacked. It is a clear position we took form the very beginning for Britain with regards to Skripal case, it is a position we always have towards Greece regarding the threats in the Eastern Mediterranean,” Macron stressed.
Macron’s message has also a second recipient: Turkey.
